Anne Heeney, our artist in residence, treated us to a very fine slide show with 30 of her works at the ‘Silver Willow Gallery’. We also enjoyed her reading one of her  husband’s poems in the introduction. Her  painting themes were, landscapes, buildings, interiors, portraits and Dreams/Spirit Forms (Image below). As the evening wore on we had grown from 11 guests to almost twenty  and the evening ended with enjoyable refreshments and good conversation. Anne works in water color, acrylics and water soluble oils and her colors are crisp, clean and model the large nature of our area. Many of her paintings are from a small town in Saskatchewan, north of Willow Bunch Lake, called Verwood. Anne’s professional life started with animation and after further studies at the University of Victoria became a full time painter. We are fortunate that Anne will be staying with us into to the month of July. Below is a clip, from Anne’s animation career, of “The Thief and the Cobbler”.
