Built in 1917 and restored to official status as one of Saskatchewan's Historic Properties, the Wallace Stegner House opened to its first artist in residence more than 15 years ago. The dedication and perseverance of numerous volunteers and the financial contributions of many supporters have made our success to date possible. The Annual Stegner House Dinner provides the Eastend Arts Council with enough funding to cover annual operating expenses associated with running artists' residence. There are considerable costs associated with maintaining this century old home. Looking to the future, the Eastend Arts Council has established the Wallace Stegner House Legacy Fund, an endowment designed to ensure funds are available to maintain Wallace Stegner's home as an historic property and artists' retreat for another century. Mary Stegner, Wallace's widow, has kindly made the initial contribution to the fund.
